What are Class IV Shingle Roofs and why should you consider getting one installed?
Class IV Shingles are a premium prestic product that has impact resistance against hail hits. These shingles have a special asphalt modifier that allows them to better absorb hail impacts. An added benefit is that your homeowners' insurance can be as much as 30% less by having a Class IV Shingle Roof installed. They also have top of the line warranties and are aesthetically pleasing, with many premium colors.
However, although Class IV Shingles are impact resistant and the added asphalt modifier will mitigate the hail hits, the hits will still show on the shingles. They will also show on all the metal items such as air vents, power ventilators, metal heat stacks, wind turbines and metal caps. You can, however, replace these items, but you will not be able to have another future hailstorm claim.
When should you consider installing a Class IV Shingle Roof? Whenever it's time for your roof to be replaced. And if you're selling your home, this is a great added feature to advertise.
